White eye pencil is the most effective makeup to lift tired eyes
To our disappointment, masking tired eyes -- due to a sleepless night or general fatigue -- is quite difficult. In fact, eyes do not hide anything.
"White eye pencil to apply to the tear rims brightens and awakens the eyes," says celebrity makeup artist Lisa Aharon," and can also create the illusion of bigger eyes. I also love to use an illuminating pencil in the inner corners to lengthen and change the shape of the eye." The make-up artist, who counts Rachel Brosnahan, Florence Welch and Kate Bock among her clients, explains that the idea is to neutralize or cover up the natural pink, or red tone of the tear trough-and in a way, it's like correcting eye color.
As for shades, Aharon notes that "it depends on your skin tone, the natural color of your eye rhyme, and the effect you want to achieve." For everyday, she prefers a buttery white or nude shade, which is more versatile and delicate than deep white. "Bright white can give a more theatrical impression," says Aharon, "although on fair skin it will be less noticeable."

Earlier this year, Peter Philips, creative director of Dior make-up, at the spring summer 2022 couture show etched a dramatic white eyeliner line on the models' faces to complement the collection's metallic-white color palette. "Black makeup would have made the collection-which is more fluid than graphic-more classic, while white made it brighter," the make-up artist told Vogue.
This technique is also a favorite among celebrities. Victoria Beckham says she can't go a day without using her namesake brand's Instant Brightening Waterline Pencil: "It's rare that I get a full night's rest, but thanks to this pencil, no one will ever suspect it. The neutral shade balances the redness along the tear line and brightens the eyes. I almost consider it a part of my skincare routine. I can skip makeup, but not my Instant Brightening Waterline Pencil: it's the magic moment of make-up."
Used for everyday make-up or for a glam look for big occasions, one stroke of the brightening pencil creates the illusion of glowing eyes with minimal effort.
