The designer bags fall winter 2023 2024 that made us fall in love from New York to Milan Fashion Week
Think of a classic hobo handbag and, instead of a leather handle, find a vintage telephone handset or banana. That's Puppets and Puppets' idea to re-imagine classic patterns with that typical sarcastic touch that determines every seasonal collection. The pop element doesn't end there, because Coach abandons the idea of the usual shapes to propose small hand bags with the features of stars, fish and hearts (okay, the heart bag is certainly not new but surely this trend is love at first sight!).
Then there are the confirmations: oversize bags that rage on the catwalks to hold more than enough and proposed in many models, from the well-known shopping bags to maxi clutches (Brandon Maxwell and Proenza Schouler at New York Fashion Week) to carry under the arm. There is no shortage of messenger bags, which Michael Kors Collection offers in a minimalist version in super-soft leather to match the look.
Experiment with raffia that is woven to make a maxi clutch bag (Simone Rocha); use an envelope without handles as a purse (JW Anderson); take a vintage bike purse and wear it as a satchel (Daley). These are some ideas seen at London Fashion Week in February 2023.
Milan Fashion Week is in the sign of heartcore: from Marco Rambaldi's crocheted ones to Moschino's heart-shaped (but punk) bag. The fancy element is there and it becomes almost fabulous, such as the fox head clasp to match the cocktail ring at Etro, but there is one confirmation: classic bags will be a must for fall winter 2023 2024.
