Not only shoes, this summer even dresses are made of crystal

All crazy about the crystal dress.

That the nude look is one of the trends of the moment has been confirmed as much by the runways as by the red carpets. But it should be noted that it is accompanied by another trend, which we could call a kind of micro-trend and which, in a way, redefines the concept of "nude": that of garments (and accessories) studded with crystals, a true obsession of celebrities and influencers, as demonstrated by social media, starting with Instagram.

The interpretation of designers, from Saint Laurent to Santa Brands

There is a tendency to speak of a "crystal dress," a locution that sounds melodious but in reality does not really tell the whole truth, because in fact it is a kind of net dotted with crystals applied to a tulle base. Among the brands that have adopted this kind of semi-transparent fabric we find in pole position Saint Laurent, which introduced it in its Cruise 2022 collection with various strapless and feather-detailed gown models, such as the one we saw worn by Danish-born stylist Emili Sindlev at the last Cannes Film Festival.

And the stars are not standing idly by

The allure of shimmer has not left the stars indifferent either. If Eva Longoria shared an image of herself on Instagram (sitting on the edge of a bathtub) in a nude dress radiating glows of suspicious naturalness, British singer-songwriter Jessie J posted a photo (with a parking lot background) in which she flaunted a pair of shimmering fishnet pants, counterbalancing such iridescent shine with the solid monochrome of a cotton T-shirt from Gap, on which the words "Gay" stood out. Model Erin Wasson, for her part, showed far greater boldness, interpreting the trend with a pair of shorts.

Chiara Ferragni prefers it with feathers

Instagram star Nina Sandbech, on the other hand, showed the aesthetic potential of the trend when applied to a midi skirt as part of a maximalist summer look, paired with a corset-like top or bodysuit. "The more sparkles, the better," she commented about an outfit in which even the shoes were studded with crystals. As for Chiara Ferragni, feathers win (again) in her case: her crop top seems tailor-made to evoke the excess of an era that sparkled in disco under an equally sparkling strobe ball.
