Men's Fashion Trends Fall Winter 2022-23: HIGH FASHION

Share:

After Milan and Paris Fashion Week, with the subsequent close of all men's fashion weeks, which featured the Fall Winter 2020-21 collections, so many trends and tendencies were presented. So many men's fashion shows presented the highly personal interpretations of the trompe-l'œil technique, it is the case for Y/Project and Loewe, other designers instead opted for physical additions of metallic mesh, sequins and three-dimensional decorations as for Dior Men and Louis Vuitton. Men's wardrobe, like women's wardrobe is filled with fur inserts and fur coats used for outerwear but also as luxurious ornamental accessories. In the men's Fall Winter 2022 collections of Hermès and Prada, the focus shifts to leather goods: Véronique Nichanian presents tailored jackets and suits in total leather, while the creative co-direction of Raf Simon and Miuccia Prada renews the timeless leather trench coat. Silhouettes are three-dimensional enough to look sculptural, the materials used reflect light until they become glossy, while the season's new prints and patterns establish unexpected combinations.

Trompe-l'œil

The trompe-l'œil painting technique is interpreted on the runways of the men's fashion shows and the Fall Winter 2022 collections. Optical illusions depicting anatomies of the male body appear in Glen Martens' collections in collaboration with Jean-Paul Gaultier for Y/Project and Jonathan Anderson's collection of Loewe with realistic reproductions of faucet drains and portraits of models on T-shirts.

Fur everywhere

Although fur has always been traced back to the female universe, men are also ready to introduce it into their wardrobes. Dolce & Gabbana during the fashion show presents a version of the eco-friendly fur continuing its path in sustainability. Instead, GmbH and Prada decide to include fur inserts for tailored coats and winter outerwear.

Draping

Among the trends that emerged during the men's fashion shows is undoubtedly a focus on draping. Defining it are the weights and falls of garments, which structure three-dimensional, sculptural draperies that become a purely decorative quirk. Interpreting the draping are Kim Jones from Dior Men, the creative duo of Serhat Isik and Benjamin Huseby from GmbH, and Kean Etro for Etro's caftans.

Sculptural Clothes

Not only draping, but also silhouettes take on sculptural structures and appearances. Jonathan Anderson, creative and experimental interpreter creates new volumes and unexpected shapes with padding and structures for both his brand JW Anderson and the Spanish maison of Loewe.

Shearling

Sheepskin has always dominated winter, but for the coming season so many creative directors have presented their very own version. From the sophisticated vision of Véronique Nichanian from Hermès to the more Canadian casual vision of brothers Dean and Dan Caten from Dsquared2. Shearling reconfirms itself among the trends and tendencies of men's fashion.

Leather Climax

Leather coats, jackets, trench coats, tailored suits, pants, and biker jackets. From the Fall Winter 2022 men's fashion shows and collections, there is no shortage of leather goods. Roberto Cavalli offers a glam rock version, Hermès a distinct and sophisticated version while Dior Men and Prada a timeless and elegant version.

Glossy Touch

Another focus of the coming season is materials: pvc, nylon, plastics, patent leather and leather all have one lowest common denominator, they reflect light. Etro presents shimmering raincoats, Walter Van Beirendonck the reflective bomber jackets in full clubwear style, and Matthew M. Williams studies for 1017 ALYX 9SM sleeveless jackets with an urban character.

Patterns & Graphics

Mixed prints, minimal patterns, geometric patterns and illustrative graphics. The men's Fall Winter 2022-23 collections are full of them. Versace continues to present the La Greca pattern with new colorations, Louis Vuitton opts for pictorial and religious illustrations, while NIGO for its debut at Kenzo presents a wide selection of floral prints. Lucie and Luke Meier at Jil Sander, present in line with the brand a minimal design running on shirts, sweatshirts, coats, and scarves illustrating the zodiac signs.

Decorations and Sequins

Decorations also play an increasingly important role in the contemporary man's wardrobe. We are talking about sequins, as in the case of Acne Studios, Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana, and three-dimensional flowers and beads for Dior Men. Jonathan Anderson prefers unusual materials such as LEDs embedded in coats and tops for Loewe but also brooches with mirrors and rubber bracelets on vests for JW Anderson.
