Mask: the new must have
The year 2020 has brought with it a wave of unexpected events; one of them, the tragic spread of COVID-19 around the world. This event has made the world adapt to the needs of the new normality.
It is because of these changes that the fashion industry has embraced new trends: face masks are perhaps the only real fashion trend to emerge since COVID-19 became an everyday part of the world.
First, its use was strictly for health, care and empathy, but as the situation got worse, many people, celebrities and influencers alike, began to use the mask as a new accessory in their wardrobe.
Some luxury brands have launched the facial mask as a new accessory: Emilio Pucci, Erdem and Ermanno Scervino are some brands that sell these items online at the price of € 20-60. During the Milan and London Fashion Week we could see them in catwalks like that of the designer Bora Aksu and as a must have in street style.
It is true that it is too early to predict the the future regarding the pandemic, but for now, face masks are the accessory with the highest commercial demand. There is even a great chance that face masks will become a new status symbol in luxury fashion.
