Films that will help to understand the trends of the Fall/Winter season  2020/2021

In the new F/W 20-21 season, many fashion designers were inspired by the work of legendary directors. They looked for inspiration in such works as "Dracula", "Mistress", "Marie Antoinette" and many others.  We made a selection of the most interesting options.

"Marie Antoinette" (2006) in the Moschino collection

Moschino's creative director, Jeremy Scott, surprised everyone with his new Rococo collection. Models came out with hairstyles in the form of cakes and clothes shocked with unique handmade work.

"Dracula" (1992) in the Rodarte collection

The designers of the Rodarte brand this time sought inspiration in the film "Dracula". The collection has many dresses with voluminous sleeves, wraps with hoods, appliques in the form of spiders and other attributes similar to the heroes of the film.

Thriller "Les Biches" (1968) in the Chanel F/W 20 collection

The images of the main characters of the thriller “Les Biches” by Claude Chabrol, turned out to be a key source of inspiration for the Chanel F/W 2020/2021 collection.

“Maitresse” (1975) in the Fendi collection

Before the start of the F/W 2020/2021 season collection, the creative director of Fendi, Silvia Venturini, led the whole team to the screening of Barbet Schroeder's film “Maitresse”, for which the former creative director of the fashion house Karl Lagerfeld designed the costumes. The outfits of the actress became the main landmark of the new Fendi style.

"Barry Lyndon" (1975) in the Louis Vuitton collection

Creative Director Nicolas Gesquiere decided to interpret the costume designer’s  Milenanu Canonera work for the 1975 film “Barry Lyndon” in a new Louis Vuitton collection. 

“Sweet Life” (1960) in the Gucci Collection

Federico Fellini's film became an inspiration for Alessandro Michele in the new Gucci collection.

There are a lot of references to various Fellini films in the new collection, but the movie “Sweet Life” has become the main source of inspiration.
