Fashion, food, and fun: What do in Milan?

MILAN CATHEDRAL

This is definitely the number one of the things you need to see in Milan. The Cathedral is a magnificent building that is famous for its sublime architecture. They started construction in 1386 but it wasn’t officially completed until 1965 so, the building took 600 years to complete! The famous cathedral is located in the center of Milan in the Piazza del Duomo. A trip to Milan isn’t complete without stepping foot inside its huge doors and witness the impressive interior with the beautiful stained-glass windows.

LA GALLERIA VITTORIO EMANUELE II

This gallery is another top attraction in Milan. It’s located just outside the cathedral also on the Piazza del Duomo. It’s a very luminous and photogenic place. This Galleria is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in Europe and inside you can find luxury stores such as Louis Vuitton, Prada as well as multiple high-end restaurants.

CASTELLO SFORZESCO

This impressive 15th-century castle is located in the center of Milan and is surrounded in extensive grounds and gardens. It was built in 1358 by the famous Visconzi family to protect and defend the city. This iconic monument is known for having hosted Leonardo DaVinci workshops during the renaissance period. The inner courtyard of the castle is open to the public for free so, it’s definitely worth visiting this iconic monument.

PARCO SEMPIONE

This green spot in the middle of the city is Parco Sempione, located just behind the Sforza Castle. It’s the largest park in Milan and a perfect place to sit down and relax. Some buildings that are worth seeing while having a stroll around the parc are the Arena Civica, which is a multi-purpose stadium from 1807 and the Arco Della Pace, this is the triumphal arch of Milan and it was built to celebrate peace.

NAVIGLI CANALS

This is the most picturesque part of Milan! The Navigli district which is crossed by canals was originally a system of canals that connected the river Po to the lakes of the region. You can take a quiet stroll along the canals and enjoy a romantic meal on one of the restaurants along the canals.

SHOPPING IN MILAN

Of course, when visiting Milan you have to go shopping! The city is internationally recognized as the capital of fashion and design. Definitely go to the Quadrilatero Della Moda which is composed of four streets: Via Montenapoleone, Via Della Spiga, Via Sant’Andrea and Via Manzoni. You can also book a tour to one of these 2 fashion outlets: Foxtown Outlet or Seravelle Designer Outlet.

DINNER IN MILAN

Here are some good restaurants in Milan. Rizzocomeacasa is a little Italian Bistro with fresh products and traditional homemade Italian dishes. Nerino Dieci Trattoria has excellent cuisine and beautifully presented typical Italian dishes. Especially the “tiramisu trio” is worth a try!
