A trip to Marrakech

Share:

Packing for a trip to Marrakech requires careful consideration. Daytime temperatures in Marrakech can exceed 40°C, while winter evenings are decidedly chilly. Depending on the time of year you visit, you'll need to adjust your wardrobe accordingly.

Another important factor to consider when choosing what to wear in Marrakech is to respect the country's culture. Islam is the main religion in Morocco, and the indigenous population tends to dress very modestly. There is no mandatory dress code for tourists, but both men and women are advised to respect the culture and leave short, revealing clothes at home.

It is best to dress modestly when visiting Marrakech, although you will see some tourists who are dressed more revealingly. But, out of respect and to avoid annoyance and unwelcome comments, it is recommended to dress appropriately. It will make your stay much more pleasant.

Here are some tips on what to pack for your Marrakech vacation.

In terms of clothing, capri pants and a light cotton shirt are ideal for strolling around the Medina, while long linen pants and floaty shirts, maxi dresses, mid-length skirts, and kaftans are all perfect for other sightseeing. You'll need an evening dress if you plan to visit a fancy restaurant or nightclub.

Large light cotton scarves and pashminas are extremely versatile and can be wrapped around the shoulders or worn as a scarf. Sarouels, loose cotton pants with an elastic waist and cuffs, are a perfect outfit and can be paired with a cotton shirt or t-shirt.

It is okay to wear sandals, but in the Medina it is a good idea to wear closed shoes.
